About Us
Let’s sit down for a minute. Pretend we’re sharing a warm cup of coffee. Not just any coffee—but one that carries a story, a purpose, and a bit of soul.
I want to tell you something very personal. You see, I might not “look” indigenous, whatever that means. But 37% of my blood—my roots, my story—comes from the Indigenous peoples of Paraguay. And I carry that with deep pride. I come from one of the rare countries in the world where the language of the oppressed was and still is spoken more than the language of the colonisers. That language is Guaraní.
Growing up, that was never just a fact. It was a quiet strength. A kind of music in everyday life. Guaraní is not only spoken in Paraguay—it lives in our culture, in our jokes, in the way we carry on the world. So when Owen and I began dreaming about starting a coffee brand, we didn’t want a trendy name or a foreign concept. We wanted something that would root us, remind us where I come from, and maybe… make you curious enough to learn more.
That’s how Guarani Coffee was born.
This project brings together two passions that slowly merged into one shared purpose. Owen has always been obsessed with quality—especially when it comes to coffee. For him, it’s an art form. For me, it was always about doing something something bigger than us. Something that could create ripples in communities that are too often invisible to the world.
And then, life happened. On my last trip to Paraguay, I wasn’t going to find coffee. I was going to say goodbye to my mum—forever. It was one of the most painful moments of my life. But in the middle of that grief, something unexpected happened. I met Gelga.
Gelga is an Indigenous leader from Paraguay. She’s powerful, resilient, and wise beyond words. She represents her community at the United Nations. She works with rural communities. She stands tall in spaces where her voice wasn’t always welcome—but now, it’s impossible to ignore. Meeting her didn’t just inspire us. It grounded us. That’s when Guarani Coffee went from being a dream… to a mission.
This is not about charity. It’s about empowerment.
Every bag of Guarani Coffee you purchase is a bridge. A connection. A delicious, meaningful way to enjoy world-class specialty coffee—while supporting Indigenous communities in Paraguay. We’re working with farmers across Latin America to source the most interesting, complex beans you’ve ever tasted. From jammy nectarine notes in Colombia to winey blackberries from Guatemala—we take pride in every roast, ensuring it honours the origin and brings out the very best in every cup.
And at the same time, we invest in projects that matter.
We support sustainable agriculture in Indigenous areas. We help women sell their crafts with dignity and visibility. We create pathways for communities to thrive—not by becoming “more like us,” but by staying true to themselves.
We believe there’s space in this world for different ways of living, speaking, farming, and dreaming.
So when you open a bag of Guarani Coffee, we hope you’ll feel that.
Not just the aroma, or the quality (though that’s there too).
But the story. The roots. The respect.
This is more than coffee.
This is a space where tradition and innovation meet,
and where two people—guided by heart, culture, and a shared dream—invite you to sip something meaningful.
Thanks for being here.
Now, let’s share that cup. ☕
Luján & Owen.
